Driver Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-29

These Driver Terms apply to drivers using the Smugla driver portal in the United Kingdom — including company drivers linked to a provider and freelance drivers bidding for open jobs. By creating or using a driver account you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Your relationship with Smugla

Smugla provides software that helps providers and freelance drivers receive and complete delivery jobs. Unless you are explicitly engaged as a Smugla employee (which freelance portal use does not create), you work as an independent contractor or as a worker/employee of a provider. Pay, rota and employment terms (if any) are between you and your provider or are set by freelance job terms shown in-app.

2. Eligibility

  • Hold a valid UK driving licence for the vehicle class you operate
  • Complete identity, right-to-work and document checks required for your account type
  • Only use vehicles that are roadworthy, insured and suitable for the jobs you accept
  • Keep compliance documents in date; expired documents may block bidding or assignments

3. Conduct on jobs

  • Follow traffic law and operate vehicles safely
  • Treat customers and goods with care; obtain proof of delivery as required
  • Keep customer personal data confidential and use it only for the job
  • Do not work under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Report accidents, theft, damage or safety incidents immediately via the portal or your provider

4. Platform use

Keep your login secure. Do not share accounts. Update availability and job status accurately. Misuse (fraud, fake POD, harassment, circumventing fees) may result in suspension.

5. Earnings

For company drivers, pay is arranged by your provider. For freelance jobs, amounts shown when you bid or claim a job apply, subject to successful completion and platform rules. Where Smugla facilitates payment, customer funds are held by Smugla for 24 hours after delivery completion before release to the provider (or freelance payout path). Tax responsibilities remain yours unless your provider operates PAYE for you.

6. Privacy

We process driver personal data (including documents and location-related job data) as described in our Privacy Policy (privacy@smugla.com).

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
